Curriculum

The VGSF PhD-program in Finance consists of two parts: rigorous coursework and work on the PhD-thesis.

The curriculum starts with courses covering the main topics in finance as well as the analytical methods required for research.

After passing the required exams students start their own research projects (under the supervision of the faculty).


Prerequisites

VGSF courses can only be attended if the following conditions are met:

  • You have to be registered as a PhD student at the University of Vienna or at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration (WU Wien). Please check the admission criteria, procedures, and deadlines at these universities.
  • All VGSF courses are subject to the university regulations (University of Vienna or WU Wien). In particular, these regulations specify that certain courses can only be attended if other courses have been successfully completed.
  • Sign in for the each course using the electronic course registration system at the universities.
  • Additionally, sign in for each course via e-mail, office@vgsf.ac.at.
